Eco Friendly changes every students can make

Students are constantly learning how they can make a difference in the world.
There are classes and clubs focused on various social issues, and these places teach students how they can change these issues. One popular cause that has been popular in recent years is the helping the environment and preserving our resources.

Ways Students Can Be More Environment Friendly

Use Reusable Bags:

Plastic grocery-type bags that get thrown out end up in landfills or in other parts of the environment. These can suffocate animals who get stuck in them or may mistake them for food. Also, it takes a while for the bags to decompose so use reusable bags.

Save Electricity:

Use energy-efficient light bulbs instead of regular bulbs. They last longer, which will save you a bit of money. Make you turn off lights, the TV, and other appliances when you are not using them.

Stop Littering:

Whether it’s a piece of chewing gum or a sandwich, littering impacts our environment. Not only does it hamper the beauty of a neighborhood, but it causes air pollution. So the next time you need to throw something out, wait until you find garbage (or recycling bin).

Walk To School or Take Public Transport:

Try and reduce the amount of emissions in the air by walking or taking public transport to school instead of driving. We know in some parts of the country it can get cold in the winter, so if walking really isn’t an option then look up the local bus schedule. Get into the habit by forcing yourself to walk to school 2-3 days per week, and by the end of the school year, who knows? You might even prefer the fresh air to sitting inside a stuffy car.

Eliminate Waste from Lunches:

When packing your lunch, limit the amount of waste you create by storing food and drinks in reusable containers and bottles. Swap those Ziploc bags for Tupperware, those Nestle water bottles for reusable water bottles, and those plastic bags for nylon lunch bags. In general, try and pack foods without wrappers (these foods tend to be healthier for you anyways)

Recycle:

Recycling is such a simple thing to do, but so many people don’t do it. Many garbage disposal companies offer recycling services, so check with the company you use to see if they can help you get started! It is as simple as getting a bin and putting it out with your trash cans for free.

Reduce Paper Consumption:

There are some things that you need to have on paper or that needed to be printed, but try and minimize the amount of paper you use in the classroom. Take notes on a laptop, print double-sided, and use an online calendar or scheduler to keep your assignments organized.

Save Water:

Water is wasted more frequently than we can see. Turn off the faucet as you are brushing your teeth. Don’t turn your shower on until you’re ready to get in a wash your hair. Limit your water usage as you wash dishes. Changing old habits will be good for both the environment and your wallet.

All of these tips are easy to implement and will actually save you money. It's time you go green to save green - the planet and your wallet will thank you!
