Road safety is primarily meant about the protection and security of all those who travel on roads. 


Every year, thousands of lives are lost in the road accidents nationwide, and every year, road safety becomes more and more important to teach to our children as they start their journey as new drivers. According to an NDTV report, 17 people die every hour in India due to road accidents. Most road accidents are caused due to human error, by both pedestrians and drivers.

Through this blog we anticipate the importance of road safety because Prevention is better than cure. This holds good even in the matter of road accidents.

Road safety rules for drivers: 
  • Age: 
As per the Indian law, you should have minimum 18 years of age to avail a driving license.
  • No mobiles and other gadgets: 
Study reveals that mobile and other gadgets used while driving are prone to distraction which leads to road accidents. So strict advice NO to mobiles and other gadgets while driving.
  • Speed limit: 
You should follow the speed limit fixed for your respective vehicle. Speed influences the risk of crashes and crash injuries by the time you realize you may be closer to danger.
  • Observe traffic rules: 
You must be aware of traffic rules and regulations. Never break traffic rules like Observe traffic lights and road signs.
  • Helmets: 
Helmets are necessary when you use two wheelers for travelling and seat belts while driving car.
  • Drive carefully near schools: 
You need to drive carefully near a school and as kids have the tendency to run on the road without watching out for vehicles.
  • Don’t drink and drive: 
Is drinking and driving more important than your life. So live and let others live.
  • Keep safe distance: 
You must drive a safe distance behind a vehicle travelling in front of you.
  • Say no to Rash driving: 
Rash driving may be at the cost of your life or others.

Road safety rules for pedestrians that should keep notice:
  • As a pedestrian, you should walk on the footpath and not in the middle of the road. 
  • Look right, then left and right again. This rule should always be kept in the mind. 
  • Always try to walk on the left side of the road. 
  • You should cross the road at the zebra crossing. 

As a responsible citizen, you need to be more compassionate for improving road safety of India. It is better for you to respect and follow the rules that are put forward by the Indian Government as it is created for your own safety and welfare. All the road safety rules and regulations make your driving a better experience

Everyone wants safety while they drive. But many people don't focus on driving while they drive. Because of the distractions and also not having proper knowledge of driving can lead you to the accidents. People better have proper training in driving school and can drive.
